M litter Al Zahra: DNA of Champions


For the litters in my Al Zahra kennel, I choose stud dogs with great care.
Sometimes I search for the right male for several years and postpone the litter until I feel that the planned combination will benefit the saluki breed and has the potential to reflect my vision of the ideal individual.

For the second litter of our Junior World Winner Harmony Al Zahra, mother of the successful K litter Al Zahra,
from which, for example, the Junior World Winner 2024 Kamayel Al Zahra comes from, I chose the male Must Be Shadow Hermes,
who, by coincidence, also carries part of the Al Zahra bloodline.
I place high hopes in this combination for quality individuals in all aspects.

Titles of the dogs are not decisive for me in the selection. That’s why it wasn’t until recently, while reviewing the pedigrees again, that I realized how many successful and awarded ancestors the offspring of Harmony and Hermes will have in their pedigree:

  • Harmony Al Zahra is, among other notable awards, the holder of the title Junior World Winner 2018 from Amsterdam.

  • The sire of Must Be Shadow Hermes, Whiteheads Zinedine Zidane, is the World Winner 2023.

  • His sire, and thus the great-grandsire of the expected puppies, Zadonas Durandal, won the title Junior World Winner the same year as the dam Harmony, in 2018.

    • This is not the end of the list...


  • The dam of the sire of this litter, Must Be Shadow Hermes, is Giulietta Al Zahra, sister of the famous Gloria Al Zahra, who became (in addition to many prestigious wins like multiple BIS, JBIS, European Winner, and Junior European Winner) the World Winner 2021.

  • The dam of Giulietta, and thus great-granddam, is our beloved Carissa Al Zahra, who became Veteran World Winner in Madrid 2022.

  • Among Giulietta’s other ancestors is Veteran World Winner Feisal’s Fadil Fariq Ibn Salar from 2008.

    • And yet the list of World Winners still does not end... :-)


  • The title of World Winner is also held by more ancestors of this litter. Among them are Paraguayan Anjal Sahara Habib (4th generation from the dam’s side) and Dabka's Italy (5th generation from the sire’s side).


    And we could continue with siblings of the dogs in the pedigree :-) but that would really be too long :-)
